Orgatec 2016 Preview; What We’re Looking Forward To

The biennial trade show for office and workspace design returns to Cologne, this coming October. And it’s bigger than ever.

Near 50,000 visitors are expected to this year’s event and almost half are from outside of Germany. In fact, attendees will be travelling to Germany from 124 other countries. Waiting for them will be 600 exhibitors from 35 different nations.

Leading voices in interior and furniture design, and office and public space planning innovators, will be showcasing their latest products and theories on best practice. This is a great chance for designers and buyers to see the latest trends and developments in our sector, all under one roof.  For the first time, major technology innovators will be present; including Microsoft, Polycom and Samsung.

At a press conference in Barcelona earlier this month, Katharina Hamma, the CEO of organising company Koelnmesse GmbH, said, “Since 2013 we have been changing the strategic focus of Orgatec: moving away from a trade fair whose emphasis was on office furniture, towards an international platform for modern work environments.”

To do this, Orgatec 2016 has been split into four distinct areas – Office, Contract, Mobile and Space. And with the latest furniture products and designs from the likes of Bosse, AGORAphil and Alea, it promises to be the best event yet. A slightly more comprehensive list of the 600 exhibitors can be seen here.

Office

This zone of the show will present everything to do with office workspaces – Orgatec’s heart and soul. Here will be a chance to see the latest best practices and gather inspiration for office design.

Contract

The Contract space is dedicated to innovations and products to aid working in public areas. We expect further developments into making break-out and down-time areas more likely to boost staff morale and promote ad-hoc collaborations and meetings.

Mobile

This is Orgatec’s new tech space.  The leading companies in ICT services will be showcasing workspace products and innovations. The theme for 2016 is making communication and collaboration as simple as possible.

Space

This is the bridge connecting the other three areas within workspace design and planning. This area of the show is dedicated to providing solutions to room layouts, space planning and how to make our spaces both impressive and condusive to work; especially when they are multi-purpose.
